Firefighter (Entry Level)
Firefighters take part in fire suppression operations, as the name implies. You will learn basic knowledge and skills needed to perform firefighting functions, under the direct supervision. Tasks will include: personal protection, basic ropes and knots, ladders and tools, search and rescue, water hydraulics and physics, to more advanced techniques such as nozzle pattern and angles.
Candidates will undergo a three and a half month program, put on by the Thurston County Fire Consortium. Upon completion of the program, those who graduate will be qualified to take the State Firefighter 1 certification.
